King Ahab was a pivotal figure, and the Bible says of him “He did evil in the Lord’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.”

He married Jezebel, who was the princess daughter of Ethbaal Canaanite king if Tyre and Sidon, and priest of Astarte, which increased the worship of idols.

Jezebel didn’t want to just add idol worship, she wanted domination over the beliefs about God and sought to have the prophets killed.

Satan was trying to create the same structure in Israel as he had in Babylon with Nimrod and Semiramus, and the worship of the Sun and Moon gods.
