Pope’s Proclaim That Salvation Is Only Through The Roman Catholic Church

This end times deception study focuses on the Roman Catholic Church’s proclamation that salvation is only through them.

Most Christians believe that the Papal Church is just another denomination.

But their own words prove that they are in fact Anti-Christ, because if salvation is only through them, then they are saying that you can’t simply be saved by faith in Christ.

If you’re a Christian that attends a Baptist church, or a Presbyterian Church or a non-denominational Church, according to the Catholic Church, they consider you a heretic that is not saved and will have no part in heaven.

Below is a list of proclamations by Saints and Popes, who for 1,500 years have been stating that salvation is only through the Roman Catholic Church .

Even though the current Pope hasn’t said these things (yet), Papal Bulls and ex cathedra statements remain the stance of the Roman Catholic Church, until a Pope retracts it.

They are like a law in the USA.  If a President enacts a law, it’s the rule of the land until another President gets the law overturned.

They claim that the Church has always been aware that she has been given by Jesus Christ the entire deposit of revelation to guard until the last day and thus asserts the infallibility of her Supreme Pastor, appointed by Jesus to be His Vicar on earth, and also that salvation can be found only within her maternal bosom.

They say that whenever the Pope, 1.) using his full apostolic authority, 2.) defines, 3.) as supreme teacher of all faithful Catholics, 4.) a matter of faith or morals 5.) that must be held by the universal (Catholic) Church, he is infallible and is expressing a doctrine that is part of the deposit of the faith entrusted to the Apostles and which has been believed always and everywhere by true Catholics.

The most explicit and forceful statement came from Pope Eugene IV, in the Bull Cantate Domino, A.D. 1441, who proclaimed ex cathedra:

The Most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, also Jews, heretics, and schismatics can ever be partakers of eternal life, but that they are to go into the eternal fire ‘which was prepared for the devil and his angels’ unless before death they are joined with Her…

No one, let his alms giving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Jesus Christ can be saved unless they abide within the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church.”

They are saying that if you’re outside the Roman Catholic Church, you will burn in eternal fire with the devil, even if you die proclaiming the name of Jesus.

They are saying that salvation is not through Jesus alone.

This doctrine has been the consistent teaching of the Roman Catholic Church Saints throughout the centuries.

Saint Irenaeus (130-202), Bishop and Martyr: “The Church is the entrance to life; all others are thieves and robbers. On this account we are bound to avoid them . . . . We hear it declared of the unbelieving and the blinded of this world that they shall not inherit the world of life which is to come . . . . Resist them in defense of the only true and life giving faith, which the Church has received from the Apostles and imparted to her sons.”

Saint Augustine (354-430), Bishop and Doctor of the Church:No man can find salvation except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church one can have everything except salvation. One can have honor, one can have sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer amen, one can have faith in the Name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and preach it too, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church.”

Saint Fulgentius (468-533), Bishop: Most firmly hold and never doubt that not only pagans, but also Jews, all heretics, and all schismatics who finish this life outside of the Catholic Church, will go into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Saint Francis of Assisi (1182-1226): “All who have not believed that Jesus Christ was really the Son of God are doomed. Also, all who see the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and do not believe it is really the most holy Body and Blood of the Lord . . . these also are doomed!

Saint Thomas Aquinas  A.D. 1226-1274), the Angelic Doctor: “There is no entering into salvation outside the Catholic Church, just as in the time of the Flood there was not salvation outside the Ark, which denotes the Church.”

Saint Louis Marie de Montfort (1673-1716): There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Anyone who resists this truth perishes.”

Saint Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621), Bishop and Doctor of the Church: “Outside the Church there is no salvation… therefore in the symbol ( Apostles Creed ) we join together the Church with the remission of sins: ‘I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins”…For this reason the Church is compared to the Ark of Noah, because just as during the deluge, everyone perished who was not in the ark, so now those perish who are not in the Church.”

Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori (1696-1787), Bishop and Doctor of the Church: “All the misfortunes of unbelievers spring from too great an attachment to the things of life. This sickness of heart weakens and darkens the understanding, and leads to eternal ruin. If they would try to heal their hearts by purging them of their vices, they would soon receive light, which would show them the necessity of joining the Catholic Church, where alone is salvation. We should constantly thank the Lord for having granted us the gift of the true Faith, by associating us with the children of the Holy Catholic Church … How many are the infidels, heretics, and schismatics who do not enjoy the happiness of the true Faith! Earth is full of them and they are all lost!””

Popes through the centuries have proclaimed the doctrine “outside the Church there is no salvation.” Here is small reference of their teachings on the matter:

Pope Pelagius II (578 – 590): “Consider the fact that whoever has not been in the peace and unity of the Church cannot have the Lord. …Although given over to flames and fires, they burn, or, thrown to wild beasts, they lay down their lives, there will not be (for them) that crown of faith but the punishment of faithlessness. …Such a one can be slain, he cannot be crowned. …[If] slain outside the Church, he cannot attain the rewards of the Church.” ( Denzinger 246-247 ).

Pope Saint Gregory the Great (590 – 604): “Now the holy Church universal proclaims that God cannot be truly worshipped saving within herself, asserting that all they that are without her shall never be saved.” ( Moralia ) Note: The word “catholic” means universal, so he is saying that no one can be saved who is outside the Catholic Church.

Pope Innocent III (1198 – 121 ): With our hearts we believe and with our lips we confess but one Church, not that of the heretics, but the Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church, outside which we believe that no one is saved.” (Denzinger 423)

Pope Innocent III, ex cathedra, “There is one universal Church of the faithful, outside of which no one at all can be saved.” ( Fourth Lateran Council, A.D. 1215 )

Pope Boniface VIII in his Papal Bull Unam Sanctam (1302): We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”

Pope Eugene IV and the Council of Florence (1438 – 1445): “unless before the end of life the same have been added to the flock; and that the unity of the ecclesiastical body is so strong that only to those remaining in it are the sacraments of the Church of benefit for salvation, and do fastings, almsgiving, and other functions of piety and exercises of Christian service produce eternal reward, and that no one, whatever almsgiving he has practiced, even if he has shed blood for the name of Christ, can be saved, unless he has remained in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church.”

Pope Leo XII (1823 – 1829): “We profess that there is no salvation outside the Church. …For the Church is the pillar and ground of the truth. With reference to those words Augustine says: `If any man be outside the Church he will be excluded from the number of sons, and will not have God for Father since he has not the Church for mother.’” (Encyclical, Ubi Primum )

Pope Gregory XVI (1831 – 1846): “It is not possible to worship God truly except in Her; all who are outside Her will not be saved.” (Encyclical, Summo Jugiter )

Pope Pius IX (1846 – 1878): “It must be held by faith that outside the Apostolic Roman Church, no one can be saved; that this is the only ark of salvation; that he who shall not have entered therein will perish in the flood.” ( Denzinger 1647 )

Pope Leo XIII (1878 – 1903): “This is our last lesson to you; receive it, engrave it in your minds, all of you: by God’s commandment salvation is to be found nowhere but in the Church.” (Encyclical, Annum Ingressi Sumus )

Pope Leo XIII (1878 – 1903): “He scatters and gathers not who gathers not with the Church and with Jesus Christ, and all who fight not jointly with Him and with the Church are in very truth contending against God.” ( Encyclical, Sapientiae Christianae )

Pope Saint Pius X (1903 – 1914): “It is our duty to recall to everyone great and small, as the Holy Pontiff Gregory did in ages past, the absolute necessity which is ours, to have recourse to this Church to effect our eternal salvation.” (Encyclical, Jucunda Sane )

Pope Benedict XV (1914 – 1922): “Such is the nature of the Catholic faith that it does not admit of more or less, but must be held as a whole, or as a whole rejected: This is the Catholic faith, which unless a man believe faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved.” ( Encyclical, Ad Beatissimi Apostolorum )

Pope Pius XI (1922 – 1939): “The Catholic Church alone is keeping the true worship. This is the font of truth, this is the house of faith, this is the temple of God; if any man enter not here, or if any man go forth from it, he is a stranger to the hope of life and salvation….Furthermore, in this one Church of Christ, no man can be or remain who does not accept, recognize and obey the authority and supremacy of Peter and his legitimate successors.” (Encyclical, Mortalium Animos )

Pope Pius XII (1939-1958): “Some say they are not bound by the doctrine which teaches that the Mystical Body of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church are one and the same thing. Some reduce to a meaningless formula the necessity of belonging to the true Church in order to gain eternal salvation. Others finally belittle the reasonable character of the credibility of Christian Faith. These and like ERRORS, it is clear, have crept in among certain of our sons who are deceived by imprudent zeal for souls or by false science.”

Pope Pius XII (1939 – 1958): “By divine mandate the interpreter and guardian of the Scriptures, and the depository of Sacred Tradition living within her, the Church alone is the entrance to salvation: She alone, by herself, and under the protection and guidance of the Holy Spirit, is the source of truth.” ( Allocution to the Gregorian, October 17, 1953 )

In John 14:6, Jesus declared that salvation is through Him only and not through any man,

I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me
.”

Are you going to listen to and follow Jesus? Or a man?

The Roman Catholic Church is The Mother of Harlots.

The Roman Catholic Church has not only declared that anyone outside their Church is a heretic, but they have killed over 50 million heretics, mostly Christians, during their 1,260 year reign.

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.”

  1. Many of u forget one thing.it was to st peter (the first pope) that the keys to heaven was given and on him Jesus built the Catholic church that stood the test of times for 1500 years until a man nowhere mentioned in the Bible , Luther came to divide the church and succeeded in it.then came Calvin, zwingli etc each preaching his own doctrine and the protestants further divided into thousands of denominations each spewing venom on the Catholic church calling every Pope as Antichrist. It was pride that made Luther to rebel against the Church. It was lust that made king Henry 8 found Anglican church(he rebelled because the Pope did not grant him a divorce). You accuse catholics of worshipping Mother Mary, which is not true.we recite Hail Mary which are the words from God Himself read the Gospel passage when Angel Gabriel greeted Mary.Yes, we seek her intercession,as Jesus himself worked his first miracle (wedding at Cana) at her behest.Sorry if I have offended anybody.

    • Peter was not commissioned by Jesus to lead the Roman Catholic Church. This article proves that he wasn’t even in Rome. When Messiah said that the church would be built on this rock, He was pointing to Himself, the cornerstone of the church. http://romancatholicbeliefs.org/was-the-apostle-peter-the-first-pope/

You are mistaken. Martin Luther is in the Bible. He was used to fulfilled Revelation 11:1-2, as he was told to compare what the Popes teach against the Scriptures. He was measuring the temple, to see who is part of the body of Christ. He found out that the Catholic Church is an apostate church, and not part of the true church, and that it is delegated to the outer court of Gentiles. http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/measuring-the-temple-of-revelation-11/

He was part of the Two Witnesses of Revelation, the Scriptures and the Saints. The Popes had banned and burned the Scriptures, and persecuted the saints during the Dark Ages. When Martin Luther posted his 95 Thesis, he sparked the Protestant Reformation, which brought the church of Messiah back to life. http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/the-two-witnesses-of-revelation-11/

And he translated the Scriptures into German, and with the advent of the printing press, the Little Book of Revelation 11, the printed Bible, was spread around the world. http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/the-little-book-of-revelation-10/

Mary is not anyone’s Intercessor, as she is dead in the grave, awaiting her resurrection when Messiah returns.

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

You haven’t offended me, but your beliefs offend God. I pray that you read this website, to see how what the Popes of Rome proclaim is contrary to Scripture. http://romancatholicbeliefs.org

  2. the catholic church is built on man made creeds, they may read the bible in mass but that’s about it, they put the words of men or st . so and so, the bible is econdary only used to prove their point on a doctrine that one doesn’t understand, because the scripture is used out of context, the way that finances are handles is another point of contention, as the priest, bishop have final say, also, people pay to build church, school and then sign it all over to the church, hello…

        • We don’t receive faith or forgiveness from any man or church. Salvation is about having a covenant relationship with the Holy Father through His Son, by faith in Messiah’s atoning work on the cross, and His resurrection. Men make rules and regulations, but the true faith is through Messiah.

I wrote a study series called Come Out Of Her, as Messiah commanded us to come out of the influence of the teachings of the harlot Roman Church. That applies to Catholics and Protestants. Here’s the website URL http://comeoutofher.org

    • Yes, I agree, those quotes from the Popes are outright lies and misinformation. Obviously it is an attempt to further their personal agenda.

The home page of this website proves that the office of the Papacy fulfills Bible prophecy as the Little Horn of Daniel 7, the Son of Perdition of 2 Thessalonians 2, and the antichrist beast of Revelation 13. And the Roman Catholic Church is the Harlot of Revelation 17.

  4. I am a former southern Baptist who converted to the Roman Catholic Church. I can say with out a doubt that it was the bible and what the early Christians believed that made me become Catholic. I have never had a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, and I’ve found more friends of Christ in heaven that help as “older brothers” listen and obey God.

  5. I have never attended a catholic church, nor do I intend to. I have come across so many catholics who tell me I am going to hell because I am not catholic. They say it is dangerous to have a personal relationship with Christ. Jesus is not a liar. No one goes to the Father except through Him. I don’t recall Christ mentioning bowing down to saints, popes or exalting men above mere humans. The Pope has way too much political influence and are trying to bring about a NWO. We are under the 10 Commandments but I see where they’re breaking at least 4. How about them hiding pedophiles rather than having them put in prison? Why do so many gangsters and mob guys belong to the RCC? They go into the sacred confession and tell the priests that they’re going to go do all sorts of mayhem and terrorism and the priest shuts his mouth and let’s it happen. How many innocent people have been killed, raped, tortured and held hostage by catholics while the priests just claim that the confession is to be guarded at all costs. I’d make a terrible priest cos I’d go to the police. I mean do they really think that allowing mankind to commit horrific crimes during the week, confess on whatever day, and go out and kill and murder the next day is the true Will of God? That makes no sense to me. I wonder how all these priests would feel if a man came in and said, I’m gonna rape your mother and sister over and over again, then tie them up and kill them piece by piece and there’s not a thing you can do about it. They can’t even warn them. I’d be excommunicated so fast it’d make your head spin. I will bow to NO man!!! And for the record, I’ve went to many churches and I finally found one I absolutely trust with the truth. It is totally nondenominational. You are completely free to worship Christ and fellowship without having to worry if the pastor knows there’s a rapist sitting in the front pew. I just cannot believe that the God of love that I know exists would ever want this. They don’t even water baptize and that is highly recommended in the Bible. They sprinkle. Believe in Christ Jesus, ask for forgiveness and live your life according to Him and you will be heaven-bound! That is His promise to all of us.

  6. Dear David, I have been embattled since born again in 1977 to the present and 60 yoa with being a charismatic who has migrated away from it to a firmly protestant faith without strings attached (awful) to any particular denomination. Thanks to some adventist TV channels I learned about historicism, protestantism, catholicism, etc… and my faith in Jesus Christ alone has been somewhat reignited. What are we to do with the thousands of protestant orientated churches and splits. Is it sinful not to belong formally to any church as I trust none? I regard myself as an activist in the faith, warning others of falsehoods in Catholicism, charismatism, etc…

Keep up the good work on this vital site on the web! Georges

    • Thank you for your comment Georges 🙂 I’ve learned quite a bit from SDA Pastors as they know more about prophecy fulfillment than most Protestant Pastors, who teach futurism. I was pulled out of formal Churches a few years ago, and haven’t found one worth attending. I think that we should be part of a fellowship, so I recommend having a home church, where you can meet, study, pray and worship. Goodness knows the way that things are going in the world, home churches are going to be needed. Blessings to you! David

  7. This a great resource! As a former Roman Catholic I can testify I was taught “there is no salvation outside the Roman Catholic Church. ” Now I’m trying to wake up my Christian friends that unity in Christ is fellowship with those who cling to God’s Word in the Bible, not Protestants fellowshipping with pagans and idol worshippers. But because of nearly two centuries of brainwashing, the message is often not welcome.
