John Hagee’s 4 Blood Red Moons Theory Is Wrong

John Hagee is hyping up the 4 blood red moons (lunar eclipses) that supposedly occur on Jewish feast days.

John is making a lot of money selling his books and videos about this topic.

His four blood red moons theory is based on teachings from Mark Biltz.

A Tetrad, four blood red moons in a row that occur on Jewish holidays, have occurred 7 times since Jesus day.

Four of them occurred in 162/163 A.D., 795/796 A.D., 842/843 A.D. and 860/861 A.D., but John doesn’t reference them, because nothing significant happened.

That’s not being totally honest, as he leads people to believe that something significant always happens.

John points to the Spanish Inquisition, where some Jews were killed. The Royal decree of the Spanish Inquisition occurred on March 1492.

The First blood red moon occurred on Passover, April 2, 1493, one year after the event, so it wasn’t a sign which warned people.

The second occurred on Sukkoth, Sept. 25, 1493

The third occurred on Passover, March 22, 1494

The fourth occurred on Sukkoth, Sept. 15, 1494

John points to the state of Israel’s Independence, which occurred on May 15,1948

The First blood red moon occurred on Passover, April 13th, 1949, again one year after the event, so it wasn’t a sign which warned people.

The second occurred on Sukkoth, Oct. 7, 1949

The third occurred on Passover, April 2, 1950

The fourth occurred on Sukkoth, Sept. 26, 1950

John points to the state of Israel’s 6-day war, which occurred June 5-10, 1967

The First blood red moon occurred on Passover, April 24, 1967, before the event.  But a true sign from God would have caused all four of the blood red moons to occur before the event, otherwise there’s no significance to having four in a row.

The second occurred on Sukkoth, Oct. 18, 1967

The third occurred on Passover, April 13, 1968

The fourth occurred on Sukkoth, Oct. 6, 1968

There has not been one time that a Tetrad of blood red moons on Jewish holidays, occurred as a sign before any major event regarding the Jews.

John Hagee references prophecies such as Joel 2:31 and Ezekiel 32:7-8, as times when the sun, moon and stars will be darkened.

There’s several problems with that logic.

First, those prophecies state that the sun, moon and stars will be darkened at the same time.

A solar and lunar eclipse cannot occur at the same time, so that invalidates John’s application of these verses to eclipse events, which would not darken the stars anyway.

Second, those passages aren’t speaking of the sun, moon and stars literally going dark.

The sun, moon and stars represent an organizational leadership structure.

We know this because in Genesis 37:8-10, Joseph had a dream, ..”And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me. So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” It was symbolic of the power structure.

Isaiah used this same terminology when he referred to the judgment of God against the leadership of Babylon in Isaiah 13:10 “For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.“ This was fulfilled when the power of Babylon was destroyed by the Medo-Persian empire.

Ezekiel 32:7-8 pointed to the Egyptian King and leaders being killed by the Babylonian army.

Ezekiel 32:11 confirms this “For thus says the Lord God: ‘The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.”

Joel 2:31 pointed to the leadership of the Jews being removed after the tribulation of 66-70 A.D., when the Roman army desolated Jerusalem, the temple and the Jews.

Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 24:29 tells you that the sun, moon will be darkened at the same time, and the stars will fall, so it’s not an eclipse event.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

You can clearly see that Pastor John Hagee is not correctly using the Bible’s own definition of symbols, which invalidates his theory about the 4 blood red moons.

John Hagee is using Jewish Feast dates which are different than God’s appointed dates.

God commanded the Israelites to follow specific guidelines to know which day to observe the Passover feast.

Based on God’s biblical guidelines, the real Passover date for 2015 is April 2nd.

The Jewish leaders changed their calendar system when they were in Babylon captivity, so it is not the same as God’s.

The Jewish calendar has Passover on April 4, 2015, which is the day of the lunar eclipse, the blood red moon. This is the day that Mark Biltz and John Hagee use.

Since the lunar eclipse doesn’t occur on God’s Passover day, then it’s not a sign from Him.

Since John Hagee is wrong about the previous Tetrads being a sign to the Jews; since he is wrong about the meaning of the sun, moon and stars being darkened; and since he is using the wrong Passover date; you can safely conclude that his predictions are wrong.

In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, Paul warned us, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

David

How do we know that the blood moons have to be before an historical event to be a sign from God?

Well, the premise that John Hagee was promoting is that they are a warning for something bad to happen. A warning comes before the event.

Blood Moon…the way of man that will OBSCURE the True Light of Jesus Christ

“blood moon”….sounds like part of a pagan religious ritual.

The “religious” ( ex. Jews, “Christians”(Hagee)) and others hype up the”cult like” observation of the physical appearance of a “red / blood moon”.

( a “blood moon” is caused when the earth blocks out the light of the sun onto the moon in a total eclipse. The “reddish” colour is caused by the refraction of the red light wavelength by the earth’s atmosphere.)

The important significance of the mention, in scripture, that the moon will turn red / will darken is that the earth will darken the light of the moon, not in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense.

Spiritually, this means that the WAY OF THE EARTH ( of MAN) will cause to OBSCURE the light onto the moon, the light reflected from the sun…that it will OBSCURE the Light of the One God , the Light of the One Truth in His assembly ( i.e. symbolically the moon)..that the WAY of MAN will place itself in between the One Truth of Jesus Christ and mankind (including the elect)….making itself into an image of ‘god’ that all of mankind will worship and carry its mark on their foreheads and hands.

The prophet Daniel describes this in the following words…”And he (the last king of the north – leader of the beast) shall plant the tents of his palace BETWEEN the seas and the glorious holy mountain”.

There is only one belief that ALL of mankind has embraced as his way of life…and that is FREEDOM ( freedom of self-rights, freedom of religion).

And this FREEDOM dictates that it is RIGHT, a right, as a false light, to be free to worship ANY ‘god’….this is the abomination that desolates , that OBSCURES, the True Light of the One Creator, which is defined by the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the tribulation, the testing that One Creator has sent upon man to test those that claim to serve His Son Jesus Christ…but many of the stars (elect) will fall and be darkened by their compromise for their first love for FREEDOM.

Very soon, the Lord Jesus Christ will return, as a thief in man’s eyes, to rule the earth in obedience and power as the ONE KING according to the Will of ‘I AM’ and NOT according to man’s first love for his freedom, for his desire to serve and magnify oneself (XES) as a ‘god’.

I’m a Seventh Day Adventist for almost 10 yrs so I’m no longer deceived like so many others. I did get involved in all this hype to about the blood moons. I didn’t have peace about it so I asked God to show me. My sister in law was talking to me about the 7yr tribulation and I told her I didn’t believe in that. Anyway that got me looking for things to show her and I came across this site…thank you for sharing the truth…

Thank you for your comment Freda 🙂 I’m blessed to know that you have benefited from the studies. SDA Pastors seems to know a lot of the historical fulfillment of prophecy. I would encourage you to read the 2,300 Days of Daniel 8 study though, as the fulfillment is different than what what SDA’s teach. Here is the link http://christianitybeliefs.org/end-times-deceptions/daniel-8-2300-days-geneva-study-bible-refutes-sda-2300-years-1844-bible/ Keep learning and growing! David

Could you please explain why the Jewish calendar isn’t the right one more in detail? I want to keep the feasts and have been studying the dates from the Jewish calendar. Where then do I need to go to research this and get the right dates? Thank you.

Thank you for your comment Luis. 🙂 I would recommend reading this page http://www.artscalendararticles.mysite.com/blank_19.html

And then here is his list of Holy Feast Days for the years http://www.artscalendararticles.mysite.com/blank_4.html

You will see that there is a difference between his listing, which is based purely on Scripture, and the Jewish dates that John Hagee teaches about the Blood Red Moons.

I hope that helps. Keep learning and growing. Grace and peace to you in Christ’s name,
David
