A Third Rebuilt Temple In Jerusalem Is Not Biblical

This End Times Deceptions Bible study will show that there is no Scriptural need for a rebuilt 3rd temple in Jerusalem.

Prophecy teachers refer to these passages to justify their explanation of a future 3rd temple in Jerusalem.

And since these deceptions are from the enemy, they create events in Israel to make it seem like they are going to build a 3rd temple, and they very well might.

But the Bible passages that these teachers are referring to have nothing to do with the end times or a third temple in Jerusalem.

Daniel 9

Futurists claim that Daniel 9:26-27 foretells an end times antichrist who will make a 7-year peace treaty with Israel, the 70th week of Daniel.

The peace agreement would supposedly allow the temple sacrifices to take place.  And after 3 1/2 years, the antichrist will supposedly desecrate the temple, to start 3 1/2 years of Great Tribulation.

But the 70th week of Daniel was fulfilled on time, after the 69th week.  Go figure! 😛

The ‘covenant‘ is not an end times peace agreement with the modern state of Israel, it is Jesus Everlasting New Covenant, which was offered to the Jews first, for seven years.   Here is a Bible study that proves that it was Jesus New Covenant.

And the “people of the prince” is not referring to an end times antichrist, but it was fulfilled by Roman Prince Titus, who desolated Jerusalem and the temple and the Jews, in 70 A.D

Here is a Bible study that proves that it was Prince Titus.

Here is a study that shows the fulfillment of Daniel 12, the Abomination of Desolation, and the fulfillment of the 1,290 and 1335 days of great tribulation in Judea.

The 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy only speaks about the rebuilding of the second temple, and never speaks about a third temple.

It speaks about the coming Messiah, and never speaks about an end times antichrist.

It gives a 70 week time frame and never speaks about a 1,987+ year time gap in between the 69th and 70th week.

Inserting those things into the prophecy is an abuse of  Scripture, as they are out of context with God’s Word.

The concept of a futuristic 70th week of Daniel and one-man antichrist, is the creation of the Jesuits in the 16th century; as they sought to deflect blame about from the Roman Catholic Church as the Antichrist beast of Revelation, the Little Horn of Daniel, and the office of the Papacy, the Son of Perdition.

2 Thessalonians 2

Futurists claim that in 2 Thessalonians 2 Paul is speaking about an end times antichrist who will sit in the temple in Jerusalem and proclaim to be God.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”

So what does Paul mean?

Keep in mind that when the Apostle Paul wrote 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, the Jewish temple was still standing, as it wasn’t destroyed by the Romans until 70 A.D., so any reference to a physical temple would have been to that temple, not an end times temple.

To understand that, let’s look at how Jesus defined the word “temple.”

In John 2:14, Jesus spoke of the physical temple. The Greek word for the physical temple is hieron.

And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business.”

Then just five verses later in John 2:19-20, Jesus spoke of the spiritual temple. The Greek word for the spiritual temple is naos.

Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” But He was speaking of the temple of His body.”

Whenever Paul used the word naos, he applied it to followers of Jesus, the Christian Church, which is a literal temple, but not a physical building.

Paul is saying that the Son of Perdition would sit in the temple of God, that is, in the midst of the Christian church.

Instead of being an infidel who doesn’t believe in God, like so many pastors teach, the Antichrist does not reign outside of the Church, but in the very bosom of the Church.

Paul places the Son of Perdition nowhere else than in the very sanctuary of God.

The Pope sits (assumes a position of authority) as God in the temple of God,  proclaiming to be the leader of all Christians.

The Pope is called the ‘Vicar of Christ’ which means ‘substitute for Christ.’

He proclaims to forgive sins.

He proclaims that salvation is only available through the Roman Catholic Church.

He preaches a message of ‘salvation by works’, instead of through the blood of Jesus.

Here is a Bible study that proves the meaning of the temple in 2 Thessalonians 2.

Revelation 11

Futurists claim that John is speaking about a physical temple, when he says to measure the temple, and to designate the gentiles into the outer court.

“Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple (naos) of God, the altar, and those who worship there.” Revelation 11:1

The ‘reed like a measuring rod’ is the Word of God, the Little Book of Revelation 10.

The Greek for reed or rod is “kanon” = canon of holy scriptures. Kanon is also translated as rule, or measuring rod.

God was telling Martin Luther, a Catholic monk, to use the Word of God to determine who was the true church, the Temple of God; and who was the false church.

When Martin Luther and others measured the teachings of the Catholic Church against the Word of God, they were able to see that it is the false church.

Here is a Bible study that explains the fulfillment of Revelation 11 and the Two Witnesses.

Ezekiel 40

The temple that Ezekiel envisioned has been fulfilled in the true temple of God, one that is not made with human hands.

God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.” Acts 17:24

Paul told us that we are the temple of God.

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:17

“And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them.I will be their God,And they shall be My people.” 2 Corinthians 6:16

John drives the point home when Jesus proclaims that people who overcome will be a pillar in the temple of God.

He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.” Revelation 3:12

An end times rebuilt Jewish temple with bloody sacrifices would be blasphemous.

Jesus is our High Priest whose blood atoned for all of our sins by His sacrifice.

If they ever do rebuild a temple in Jerusalem and restart bloody sacrifices, it will be a denial of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and a blasphemy to God.

Such a temple could never be called “the temple of God.”

  1. I find that this study and the other comments only add to show the great confusion around the return of Christ. There are several ways to perceive biblical prophecy about the end times and rebuilding of the temple i.e. are the prophecies for history and they have already been fulfilled, they are a mix of historical, future and parable (i.e. not literal in a physical sense) and futuristic i.e. that they have yet to be fulfilled. In each camp there are differing thoughts as to the critical systems to use in order to understand it all. I for one do not believe the Revelation to John was for his lifetime although as is normal in scripture, using the ‘now’ is a part of enabling understanding in the delivery. There is simply too much imagery that was not seen by the early church or at the destruction of the second temple in 70AD. It seems more likely that much of Revelation (and as a result some key OT and NT passages too) is for the final 70th which the early church did not see completed OR it’s all nonsense. If all prophecy was fulfilled generations ago, why are we still mucking about wondering when the end will be. The fulfillment of the prophetic message seems to act with a level of increasing immanency and does not explain a sudden flurry of completion followed by and extremely long period of time where we all kind of mill about wondering if what was supposed to happen has already happened and whether we kind of missed it. If the antichrist had already popped up, the faithful will have noticed, and the tribulation would have occurred right away. Either Christ is a liar or it hasn’t happened yet, at least not fully. Also, whether or not the Pope is the antichrist may be open for debate but remember, the Papacy has existed in some form or another since the founding of the church and certainly we know that a church leader in the West was one of the key historical structures which enabled any kind of civilisation to reform after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. At what point do you suggest the Papacy turned from apostolic succession of faith to the anti-christ? Genuine question. It must be since 70AD and if he is to set up shop in the holy place, doesn’t that NEED a third temple to exist as the holy place as understood by the at least the Jews of the writing of the NT letters was in the temple, a place Jesus himself went to and taught scripture. If not the pope and it was Titus and Tiberius after recapturing Jerusalem then where is Jesus and why do I even exist? Surely Christ would have returned in the exact way he left and it would have been endex for human rulership of itself. I appreciated we can keep going round and round but at some point we have to admit the future necessity of prophecy and that includes the physical temple (as well as the temple of our own body’s) OR the most logical conclusion is that it isn’t true at all and as a result, the whole Christian faith has no foundation and is total nonsense, albeit a nice and hopeful story but if there is God, it isn’t how Christians have reasoned him/it/her.

  2. Enjoyed reading that but find it contradictory. As you end on the point of view that any new temple and sacrifices will be blasphemy is the whole point and evidence that the Jews have rejected Christ. The Arc has been found buried under the place where Christ was crucified and his blood dripped down a crack in the rock onto the altar as a payment for our sins’. Your observations on the Roman Catholic church are correct but if you follow Daniels prophecy the iron legs of the fourth kingdom continued into a mixture with clay. So it didn’t end with the Roman empire but therefore continued into a kingdom mixed with peoples and divided, the toes. We are in the troubles now and there will be a Sunday law introduced very soon as the prophecy in revelation that no man can buy or sell unless they take the mark (Sunday worship) of the beast (kingdom). Have you noticed that all commerce has virtually ceased? The site of the temple was not the temple mount. That was the site of the Romans garrison, hence why it’s occupied by the arab army of the Romans (research where muhammadism came from) the temple was in the city of David and has recently been rediscovered. There is a coming world religion of unity out of the chaos of a created event (covid) and the rainbow will be their symbol and medicine /science used to push it. Here in the UK the unaware are being pushed into almost religious ecstasy over the NHS. These are biblical times with great difficulty to come but Christ has already won and satan is already defeated!

  3. With the futuristic perspective, by which most of us seem to and have been taught to view The Book of Revelation, it is easy to forget and to overlook, that this book is a letter that was written to 7 historical, actual churches in what was their present.
Revelation 1:19 King James Version (KJV)
    19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

These churches existed during persecution. In other word these words were addressed to churches who were IN persecution. The message was to encourage them that were going through, not being rescued from persecution.
Jesus said that they which live Godly must suffer persecution. God can keep us in persecution and carry us through persecution. God’s protection is not hindered by our proximity to calamity and suffering. God does not have to take us from the earth to deliver us out of persecution. Indeed, if a tornado comes down my street it does not have to affect my house, unless God wills. And if it is God’s will for it to affect my house, that does not mean that I have to be affected. God has impeccable aim.
How many saints have you heard who have walked away from totaled vehicles?
The message is that saints will have to go through. If however we have an escapist mentality, that says we are not supposed to endure anything, than we will not be prepared for the persecution that is certainly coming to the church. Many in the body of Christ are enduring persecution now, not just in some future time.
Jesus promised that he would be with us unto the end of the world, but HE did not say that we would not have persecution. The goal is to see Christ and to reside in the new heaven and new earth-where there will never again be any persecution.
    Peace

    • Thank you for your comment Joseph! It’s amazing how Messiah addressed the letter, both to the churches that existed in the first century, when Revelation was written down; and to seven church eras, to tell them what they would face.

Here’s the link to a study that explains the latter: https://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/the-seven-churches-of-revelation-2-and-3/

Sadly, we live in the last church age of Laodicea, of which Messiah said is lukewarm, wretched, miserable, naked, poor and blind. And when we look around at the state of affairs, we see that is so true, that we have fallen far away from the zeal and truth of the saints who have gone before us.

Which is exactly why the anti-Christ will do it. Duh. Why do you think the fake Jews exist? This is all deception!

Mark my words, they will at least try it. In fact, He might even consider it the abomination of desolation, since that would put the Wrath in context.

    • The point is that Christians should not support building a temple where sacrifices would take place.

Regarding the antichrist, you seem to fail to understand who fulfills the role of antichrist, for he (the Son of Perdition) has already sat in the temple and proclaimed to be God. The Apostle Paul is not pointing to a physical temple, he’s pointing to Messiah’s assembly of saints, the temple of Elohim that’s made without hands. http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/the-son-of-perdition-of-2-thessalonians-2/

As for the abomination of desolation, that already took place in the first century, in that generation of Jews, just like Messiah proclaimed. http://theolivetdiscourse.com/the-abomination-of-desolation-deception/

    • The Abomination that makes desolate has been happening since late w015. He is,standing in The Holy Place where He ought not. The Holy Scripture . Amos 8:11 is happening. All Bibles are changing supernaturally as predicted in Amos. They shall run to and fro, from the North even to the East, and seek the Word of the Lord and shall NOT find it. Isaiah 11:6-9 used to read, The Lion shall Lay down with the Lamb . Now it reads The WOLf will dwell with the Lamb. Wake up ,thousands of blashemies changed. He shall speak great words against the Most High and seek to wear out the Saints of the Most High.
LET NO MAN DECIEVE you, you are the,Temple and His word has He written in your heart. Remember, what is written in your heart. 💝🦁🐑🕊🕊

  5. I agree. They also teach that a peace agreement will be signed, The bible says it’s a Covenant with many. Recently, the Pope is having different religions sign what
    he is calling a Covenant.
