The 70th Week Of Daniel Made Simple

You can find much more information about the fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel 9 on this website: https://70thweekofdaniel.com

The 70th week of Daniel studies on this website provide in-depth insight about the covenant and the Prince in Daniel 9:24-27, but the goal of this Bible study is to simply show you that the subject of the 70th week of Daniel is Jesus Christ, not antichrist.

This prophecy is extremely important because many people teach that the 70th week of Daniel is a 7-year tribulation period in the end times. But as you will soon see, it was fulfilled by Jesus, so the concept of a future 70th week of Daniel being a 7-year tribulation period is invalid.

Here’s the prophecy of the 70 weeks of Daniel in chapter 9:

24 Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.

25 Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.

26 And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.

Many Pastors wrongly apply the pronoun “he” to an end-times antichrist, so let’s study the proper noun in the verses to understand who to attribute the actions that are described.

Verse 25 tells us that MESSIAH THE PRINCE (Jesus) would arrive after 483 years have passed.

Jesus was anointed when He was baptized. We know this because at the beginning of His ministry, He proclaimed in the temple, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me.”

Acts 5:30-31 confirms that Jesus is the Prince, “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Verse 26 tells us that the MESSIAH (still Jesus) shall be cut off (not because he did anything wrong, but for the sins of others).

Verse 27 tells us that Jesus death occurred in the middle of the week, 3 1/2 years after He started His ministry, which history proves to be true.

Christ being “cut off” fulfilled Isaiah 53:8, “For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

Verse 26 tells us that the people of the prince shall desolate the city and sanctuary. The people were the Roman army and Prince Titus that Jesus sent in 70 A.D. to desolate the city and temple, because most of the Jews rejected Him as their Messiah.

The Strong’s word (5057) for prince in verses 25 and 26 are the same, telling us that they are the same person, Jesus, Messiah the Prince.

This fulfilled Jesus Parable of the Wedding Feast, “But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.” Matthew 22:7

Verse 27 tells us that he (still Jesus) shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. Jesus offered the New Covenant to the House of Israel during His ministry.

Matthew 26:28 tell us that Jesus fulfilled this, ‘And He (Jesus) said to them, “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

In these words we find four things which agree with the prophecy of Daniel 9:27:

  1. “the One” who was to confirm the covenant, Jesus the Messiah;
  2. “the covenant” itself;
  3. that which “confirmed” the covenant, the blood of Christ;
  4. those who receive the benefits of the covenant, the “many” who believe in Him as their Messiah.

Verse 27 tells us that He (still Jesus) shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. When Jesus died as the Passover Lamb of God, He fulfilled the Sinai Covenant, thereby ending the need for temple sacrifices.

When you combine the information about Jesus in verses 26 and 27, you get
And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off (and) He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

They both happened at the same time, 3 1/2 years after Jesus started His ministry

So how did the last 3 1/2 years of the 70th week of Daniel get fulfilled?

After Jesus’ resurrection, He told the disciples to stay in Jerusalem to preach the New Covenant to the Jews.

They did this for 3 1/2 years until the Jewish leaders stoned Stephen to death, showing their final rejection of Jesus as their Messiah.

This caused the disciples to leave Jerusalem and then preach to the Gentile nations.

Can you see now that Jesus and His disciples fulfilled the 70th week of Daniel?

70th week of Daniel made simple logic

    • Anthony, you can find more information about the fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel 9 on this website: https://70thweekofdaniel.com

      The word ‘for’ was inserted by the translators. It’s simply declaring that Messiah the prince confirms the covenant in the seven years of the 70th week.

      And it tells us when he did that, in the middle of the seven years, as His sacrifice ended the need for temple sacrifices.

      The passage says that he ‘confirms’ the covenant, which means that it already existed. It’s the same covenant that Daniel referred to in Daniel 9:4, the everlasting covenant of mercy to those who love the Father.

    • I agree with all you’ve said, but I disagree with your conclusion, that Christ already fulfilled therefore invalid. I can’t see why it’s so hard to understand that the Anti-Christ will be an inauthentic messiah, but will be a copy in every way. That includes this entire discussion. Proving that Christ fulfilled His part, when the Anti-Christ comes, he also will fulfill those scriptures also. It’s why the Anti-Christ’s time on earth will be 3 1/2 years also, from the abomination of desolation until Christ’s return at the end of the 7 years.

    • Hi Jonathan. I’m not understanding about the few messages you left, but you’re welcome to ask questions here. I created a new Revelation Timeline Decoded study series, that explains Revelation in more detail, and it includes a study on the fulfillment of Daniel. Here is the link http://revelationtimelinedecoded.com/

  2. Hi David.
    I’m 90% with you. I have searched the first few chapters of Acts, and I find no indication of the passage of 3 1/2 years between the death of our Lord and the stoning of Stephen. Where do you find this 3 1/2 years David? Please help.

    • Thank you for your comment Colin 🙂 Trust me, I looked for a timeline in Acts too. What we have to look at is that the text says that the covenant would be confirmed for one week, seven years. After Messiah rose again, the disciples confirmed that it was Jesus who was the Promised One, who fulfilled the covenant made to Abraham, to atone for their sins as the Passover Lamb.

      And Acts shows us that the disciples did just that, preaching the resurrected Messiah to the Jews. And we see that many Jews accepted Jesus as their Messiah.
      That is the sole narrative up until Acts 8, when there is a dramatic shift in who the Resurrected Messiah and Gospel is being preached to, to the Gentiles.

      So even though we don’t have a timeline, it’s not hard to see that the disciples preached to the Jews that their Messiah had come and atoned for their sins. So they fulfilled the prophecy. And then suddenly the renewed covenant of the Gospel was given to the Gentiles.

      We must trust that Elohim completely fulfilled His own 70 week prophecy in 70 weeks. If a 70 week prophecy is not fulfilled in 70 weeks, then it is invalid.

      We can reference third-party testimonies, such as Wikipedia, which shows that he was killed in 34 A.D.
      Messiah appeared in 27 A.D., so the 70th week of Daniel would have ended in 34 A.D., which is a match.

      I hope that helps!

    • Thank you for your comment Jim 🙂 I try to make the prophecy of the 70th week of Daniel as simple as possible. It’s really not difficult to understand, it’s all of the deceptions that have been created about it, that cause people to stumble. Grace and peace to you in Christ’s name, David
